The OXI Playbook is our series of the OXI team's favorite workflows, patches and sequencing tricks. In Playbook #5, From Simple Seeds to Complex Patterns, you lock velocity, note and trig on single steps in Multitrack Mode on OXI ONE MKII, and one simple pattern grows into many complex ones.
The short version
One simple pattern, many complex ones
It works well for drum sequences, and it works just as well for melodic parts. Apply different locks to a pattern seed and you get subtle variations, unexpected accents and melodic twists. A simple starting pattern becomes a series of complex, evolving iterations, without rebuilding each one.

Background
Multitrack Mode in one paragraph
Multitrack Mode lets you sequence and control 8 tracks at the same time. In our First Steps lessons we describe it as 8 sequencers in one. OXI ONE MKII has 8 sequencers and up to 64 tracks, so there is plenty of room to build a seed and grow it.
