i have quite a few sequencers .. each has it’s strength and weaknesses
Beatstep Pro is good for it’s simplicity , but it’s lacking many modern features .. per Step probability, no shifting of steps
Schrittmacher … it’s so inspiring and fun to dial in sequences but also able to create complex sequences. It’s old .. so many modern things are missing. Most annoying it doesn’t turn on when powered (have to push the On button ) and lack of creating a default template or ability to load last sequence when powering on
Toraiz Squid - excellent tool, it welcomes experimentation and happy accidents - it’s a shame they stopped development . I mostly missing an auto-clock-select feature
Elektron Sequencers … just great. But not for every type of sequences. Don’t force them to make long polyphonic sequences. Its possible , but far from bedingung intuitive.
Squarp Pyramid - very complex and powerful. I love the way how to freely record even long sequences , midi effects , templates for midi-devices
It can get quite hard to understand in some areas, the developers have a special approach and view on things. To understand time signatures it needs a lot of experimentation and practice. I mainly miss that its not able to play sequences in different speeds (half, double etc ) and for a center of the studio it misses latency compensation (+/- delay of midiout per sequence)
to be continued…
